paradox ~ mixing levels

Mixing levels is a problem of whole-part conflict.

“x = 1 – x” has no conflicts but “x = x – 1” does, because “x = x – 1” means “the whole is equal to a part“, which is logically impossible, according the definitions of the words “whole” and “part”.
