大陸方面今次考慮以全國政協為平台，推進兩岸共同紀念辛亥革命100周年，是有意迴避兩岸中央和地方正統之爭，1940年代國共談判時平台即是政協（舊政協）。

消息稱，大陸方面希望首先實現「胡馬會」，藉辛亥革命100周年之際，兩岸最高領導人共同參加紀念儀式，實現非正式會晤，地點可選擇辛亥革命發源地武漢，至於正式會談地點，則可能選擇香港。
