Teach Yourself Programming in Ten Years

Researchers have shown it takes about ten years to develop expertise in any of a wide variety of areas, including chess playing, music composition, telegraph operation, painting, piano playing, swimming, tennis, and research in neuropsychology and topology.

The key is deliberative practice: not just doing it again and again, but challenging yourself with a task that is just beyond your current ability, trying it, analyzing your performance while and after doing it, and correcting any mistakes. Then repeat. And repeat again.

There appear to be no real shortcuts: even Mozart, who was a musical prodigy at age 4, took 13 more years before he began to produce world-class music.

【明報專訊】18歲的廣州殘疾乞丐龔忠誠，因患小兒麻痹症雙腿嚴重退化，只能靠雙手走路。汶川地震龔忠誠前後4次向災區捐款，合計金額上百元。他的幾張捐款照片在網上被瘋狂傳播，網友為之動容，稱他「史上最感人乞丐」。

小兒麻痹 靠手走路

《廣州日報》報道，汶川地震爆發後，廣州華樂街支援抗震救災募捐活動中，一個用手走路的乞丐來到現場說「我要捐款」。他從碗中掏出幾個硬幣，因行動不便請警察幫他捐款，警察似乎覺得他捐錢意義不同，堅持讓他親手捐。他從口袋掏出幾十元放在募捐箱，兩天後他又來到捐贈現場，把身上約十元零錢投入捐款箱，前後四次捐款合計百多元，估計龔忠誠每次都將當天乞討所得全部拿出。

人肉搜尋 僅兩小時尋獲

中國好人網和華南師範大學部分師生志願者約百人前日發起「尋找向汶川地震災區捐款的好殘疾乞丐」活動。活動開始僅兩小時，志願者就在廣州站南路附近找到這名殘疾乞丐。龔忠誠14歲時隨父親來到廣州開始行乞，目前他仍要每天乞討，供在家讀書的妹妹上學。
