有些煩惱，是因為思考不清晰而引起的。只要調整思考，你會發現所謂的「煩惱」，根本不成煩惱。
另一些煩惱，是真正的煩惱。它們是因為外在客觀的問題所引起的。要有具體行動，化解那些問題，才能令那些煩惱消失，而不能單憑調整思考。化解問題有兩個方法：「化」和「解」。
「解」的意思是，直接解決。「化」的意思是，有很多時候，「解決問題」的最好方法，未必是「直接解決」，而是「把問題 transcend 掉」，令到原本的問題不再重要。

In quantum mechanics, a particle in a box has discrete energy levels, while a particle in infinite space has a continuum of energy levels. The discreteness comes from the “compactness” of the box. Can we use this idea to explain why spin is quantized? Yes! The “box” in this case, however, is the group SU(2)!
Geometrically, SU(2) is the same as what we mathematicians call S^3, or the 3-sphere – which is the unit sphere in R^4.

互聯網普及之後，情況不再是那樣。Paul Graham 的另一篇文章講，摩爾定律令硬件廉價；開源軟件令軟件免費；互聯網令 市場推廣 便宜。利用互聯網的話，「市場推廣」不必再是成本高昂的工序。依靠「自僱工作」為生，沒有以前那麼困難。
有時，你所追求的東西，其實一早已經在你的身邊，只是你沒有留意。例如，互聯網在一九六幾年已經面世。但是， 1995 年才是互聯網發展史的轉捩點。那時，大眾才發現互聯網的存在（the public discovery of the Internet）。
Paul Graham 的再另一篇文章講，互聯網開始普及時（大約 1995 年），人們其實已經可以自由發表自己的文章，毋須任何中間人。但是，那時很少人這樣做。大部分人還習慣「要發表文章就要投稿和要出版社的認可」的思維模式。他們不能接受太美好現實：有了互聯網，出版文章竟然沒有困難。
結果，要等了 8 年（2003 年），才有大量人開始寫網誌（the public discovery of blogging）。
