The core concept of general-relativistic model-building is that of a solution of Einstein’s equations. Given both Einstein’s equations and suitable equations for the properties of matter, such a solution consists of a specific semi-Riemannian manifold (usually defined by giving the metric in specific coordinates), and specific matter fields defined on that manifold.
Matter and geometry must satisfy Einstein’s equations, so in particular, the matter’s energy-momentum tensor must be divergence-free. The matter must, of course, also satisfy whatever additional equations were imposed on its properties. In short, such a solution is a model universe that satisfies the laws of general relativity, and possibly additional laws governing whatever matter might be present.

When Collins asked who didn’t make it out of Vietnam, Stockdale replied:
“Oh, that’s easy, the optimists. Oh, they were the ones who said, ‘We’re going to be out by Christmas.’ And Christmas would come, and Christmas would go. Then they’d say, ‘We’re going to be out by Easter.’ And Easter would come, and Easter would go. And then Thanksgiving, and then it would be Christmas again. And they died of a broken heart.”
Stockdale then added:
“This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end — which you can never afford to lose — with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.”
Witnessing this philosophy of duality, Collins went on to describe it as the Stockdale Paradox.

下星期二才考 A.Maths。
假如,你考 A.Maths 之前的一天考 Physics(物理),而之後一天考 Maths(一般數學)的話,你溫習 A.Maths 的機會成本就會非常高。

In mathematics and physics, n-dimensional anti de Sitter space, sometimes written AdSn, is a maximally symmetric Lorentzian manifold with constant negative scalar curvature. It is the Lorentzian analogue of n-dimensional hyperbolic space, just as Minkowski space and de Sitter space are the analogues of Euclidean and elliptical spaces respectively.
It is best known for its role in the AdS/CFT correspondence.

History seems to me so important that it’s misleading to treat it as a mere field of study. Another way to describe it is all the data we have so far.

Among other things, studying history gives one confidence that there are good ideas waiting to be discovered right under our noses.

The 70/20/10 Model is also used as a Learning and Development model, according to the Princeton University Learning Process.
* 70% of learning & development takes place from real-life and on-the-job experiences, tasks, and problem solving.
This is the most important aspect of any learning and development plan. For example, the real learning from a skill acquired in a training program, or from feedback, takes place back on the job when the skill or feedback is applied to a real situation.
* 20% comes from feedback and from observing and working with role models.
* 10% of learning and development comes from formal training.

ANSI Common LISP (by Paul Graham) was the book I borrowed for a Machine Intelligence course project in 2000. My memory was that the author was called “Paul something”. I thought that Paul was the one who had invented LISP.
No. It should be John McCarthy.
Later on, during my teaching-in-high-school period, by a Wikipedia biography, I realized that that Paul was not as great as I thought, because he was not the one who had invented LISP.
However, now, I regard him as one of my five most important teachers.

f(x) is a formula of x.」 f(x) is a function of x.」
