Emerson wrote in his speech “The American Scholar”: “We will walk on our own feet; we will work with our own hands; Divine Soul which also inspires all men.” Emerson closed the essay by calling for a revolution in human consciousness to emerge from the new idealist philosophy:

沒有必要的話，就不要和，不誠實的人相處。你是沒有辦法，和不誠實的人建立「默契」的。
簡單而言，「默契」建基於「信任」。沒有「信任」，就沒有可能有「默契」。
複雜而言，說謊的人（甲）會發放假訊息，導致你腦海中「虛擬的甲」，永遠和「真實的甲」有天壤之別。那樣，從你的角度看，甲是不可預測的。換句話說，無論相處多久，你和甲也沒有可能有「默契」。
你可以有辦法，分辨到「誠實人士」和「說謊人士」。但是，你是沒有辦法，分辨到「間中說謊人士」和「時常說謊人士」，除非你句句鑑證。換而言之，你永遠不會知道，「表面的甲」和「真正的甲」相差有多大。當你以為甲只是想「謀財」時，他的真正目的，可能是想「害命」。
