例如,假設我讀中學時讀 physics(物理),大學時讀 physics,畢業以後去教 physics。

然後,有個學生問我,為什麼我要讀 physics 呢?我不打算做 physics 老師。哪 physics 對我有什麼用處呢?

(安:或者你心目中的最好老師不單要傳授學術知識和考試技巧,而應該有更廣闊、更深刻的學養。但是,有廣闊深刻學養的人就不會自然地去中學教書,所以餘下的是知識見識不太廣闊深刻的人在中學教書。)

整個結構就好似層壓式推銷一樣。 

(安:為什麼廣博的人不會去中學教書呢?)

因為在中學教書,不能發揮到他們廣博的知識。

(安:因為年年都教同一堆知識,廣博的人就覺得沒有趣味?)

教書的頭一兩年,可以學習很多東西,吸收很多工作經驗。之後,基本上就沒有什麼好學,只不過是重複第一年的工作。例如教了十年書,根本就沒有十年的工作經驗,而只不過是將第一年的經驗重複十次。其實,很多其他的行業都有這個現象,除非你定期轉工轉行。
